² saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?^(A) For we saw His star in the east^[a](B) and have come to worship Him.”^[b]

Jesus Faces the Governor

¹¹ Now Jesus stood before the governor.^(A) “Are You the King of the Jews?” the governor asked Him.

Jesus answered, “You have said it.”^[a](B)

²⁹ They twisted together a crown of thorns, put it on His head, and placed a reed in His right hand. And they knelt down before Him and mocked Him: “Hail, King of the Jews!”

³⁷ Above His head they put up the charge against Him in writing:

² So Pilate asked Him, “Are You the King^(A) of the Jews?”^(B)

He answered him, “You have said it.”^[a]

⁹ So Pilate answered them, “Do you want me to release the King^(A) of the Jews^(B) for you?”

¹² Pilate asked them again, “Then what do you want me to do with the One you call the King of the Jews?”

¹⁸ And they began to salute Him, “Hail,^(A) King^(B) of the Jews!”

²⁶ The inscription of the charge written against Him was:

³ So Pilate asked Him,^(A) “Are You the King of the Jews?”^(B)

He answered him, “You have said it.”^[a]
