¹⁴ “For many are invited, but few are chosen.”^(A)

²⁶ Those who heard this asked, “Then who can be saved?” ^(A)

²⁷ But Isaiah cries out concerning Israel,

⁸ For you are saved by grace^(A) through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift—

²⁰ who in the past were disobedient, when God patiently waited in the days of Noah^(A) while the ark was being prepared. In it a few—that is, eight people^[a](B)—were saved through water.

⁴ But you have a few people^[a] in Sardis who have not defiled^[b] their clothes,^(A) and they will walk with me in white, because they are worthy.
