¹⁴ “For many are invited, but few are chosen.”^(A)

²² Unless those days were limited, no one would^[a] survive.^[b] But those days will be limited because of the elect.^(A)

⁷ Will not God grant justice^(A) to His elect^(B) who cry out to Him day and night?^(C) Will He delay^(D) to help them?^[a]

¹² Therefore, God’s chosen ones, holy and loved,^(A) put on heartfelt compassion, kindness,^(B) humility,^(C) gentleness,^(D) and patience,^(E)

²⁷ Instead, God has chosen^(A) what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong. ²⁸ God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world^(B)—what is viewed as nothing—to bring to nothing what is viewed as something,

⁴ knowing your election,^(A) brothers loved^(B) by God.^(C)

⁵ Listen, my dear brothers: Didn’t God choose the poor in this world^(A) to be rich in faith^(B) and heirs^(C) of the kingdom that He has promised to those who love Him?
