² Jehovah is a jealous God and avengeth; Jehovah avengeth and is full of wrath; Jehovah taketh vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies. ³ Jehovah is slow to anger, and great in power, and will by no means clear the guilty: Jehovah hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.

³⁰ For we know him that said, ^[a]Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense. And again, ^[b]The Lord shall judge his people. ³¹ It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

¹⁴ Follow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man shall see the Lord: ¹⁵ looking carefully ^[a]lest there be any man that ^[b]falleth short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby the many be defiled; ^16 [c]lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one mess of meat sold his own birthright.

⁹ not rendering evil for evil, or reviling for reviling; but contrariwise blessing; for hereunto were ye called, that ye should inherit a blessing. ¹⁰ For,

²⁵ And whensoever ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have aught against any one; that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.^[a]

¹² And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. ¹³ And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from ^[a]the evil one. ^{[b] 14} For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. ¹⁵ But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
