Also the sons of Hassenaah built (A)the Fish Gate; they laid its beams and (B)hung its doors with its bolts and bars. And next to them (C)Meremoth the son of Urijah, the son of [a]Koz, made repairs. Next to them (D)Meshullam the son of Berechiah, the son of Meshezabel, made repairs. Next to them Zadok the son of Baana made repairs. Next to them the Tekoites made repairs; but their nobles did not put their [b]shoulders to (E)the work of their Lord.

The Fish Gate(A) was rebuilt by the sons of Hassenaah. They laid its beams and put its doors and bolts and bars in place. Meremoth(B) son of Uriah, the son of Hakkoz, repaired the next section. Next to him Meshullam son of Berekiah, the son of Meshezabel, made repairs, and next to him Zadok son of Baana also made repairs. The next section was repaired by the men of Tekoa,(C) but their nobles would not put their shoulders to the work under their supervisors.[a]
