2 that I commanded (A)Hanani my brother and (B)Hananiah the commander of (C)the fortress, to be over Jerusalem, for he was (D)a faithful man and feared God more than many. 3 Then I said to them, “The gates of Jerusalem must not be opened until the sun is hot; and until they are there standing guard, they must shut and bolt the doors. Also have guards from the inhabitants of Jerusalem stand, each at his post, and each in front of his own house.” 4 Now the city was large and spacious, but the people in it were few and the houses were not rebuilt.

New International Version
2 I put in charge of Jerusalem my brother Hanani,(A) along with Hananiah(B) the commander of the citadel,(C) because he was a man of integrity and feared(D) God more than most people do. 3 I said to them, “The gates of Jerusalem are not to be opened until the sun is hot. While the gatekeepers are still on duty, have them shut the doors and bar them. Also appoint residents of Jerusalem as guards, some at their posts and some near their own houses.”
