Nehemiah 9:17
Christian Standard Bible
17 They refused to listen
and did not remember your wonders
you performed among them.(A)
They became stiff-necked and appointed a leader
to return to their slavery in Egypt.[a](B)
But you are a forgiving God,
gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and abounding in faithful love,(C)
and you did not abandon them.

They became stiff-necked(C) and in their rebellion appointed a leader in order to return to their slavery.(D) But you are a forgiving God,(E) gracious and compassionate,(F) slow to anger(G) and abounding in love.(H) Therefore you did not desert them,(I)

17 And refused to obey, neither were mindful of thy wonders that thou didst among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsookest them not.
