Nehemiah 9:17-19
Living Bible
17 “They refused to obey and didn’t pay any attention to the miracles you did for them; instead, they rebelled and appointed a leader to take them back into slavery in Egypt! But you are a God of forgiveness, always ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to become angry, and full of love and mercy; you didn’t abandon them, 18 even though they made a calf idol and proclaimed, ‘This is our God! He brought us out of Egypt!’ They sinned in so many ways, 19 but in your great mercy you didn’t abandon them to die in the wilderness! The pillar of cloud led them forward day by day, and the pillar of fire showed them the way through the night.

Nehemiah 9:17-19
New International Version
17 They refused to listen and failed to remember(A) the miracles(B) you performed among them. They became stiff-necked(C) and in their rebellion appointed a leader in order to return to their slavery.(D) But you are a forgiving God,(E) gracious and compassionate,(F) slow to anger(G) and abounding in love.(H) Therefore you did not desert them,(I) 18 even when they cast for themselves an image of a calf(J) and said, ‘This is your god, who brought you up out of Egypt,’ or when they committed awful blasphemies.(K)
19 “Because of your great compassion you did not abandon(L) them in the wilderness. By day the pillar of cloud(M) did not fail to guide them on their path, nor the pillar of fire by night to shine on the way they were to take.
