²⁶ “But they were disobedient and rebelled against you; they turned their backs on your law.^(A) They killed^(B) your prophets,^(C) who had warned them in order to turn them back to you; they committed awful blasphemies.^(D)

²⁹ “You warned^(A) them in order to turn them back to your law, but they became arrogant^(B) and disobeyed your commands. They sinned against your ordinances, of which you said, ‘The person who obeys them will live by them.’^(C) Stubbornly they turned their backs^(D) on you, became stiff-necked^(E) and refused to listen.^(F)

³⁴ Our kings,^(A) our leaders, our priests and our ancestors^(B) did not follow your law; they did not pay attention to your commands or the statutes you warned them to keep.
