⁵⁰ Instead, appoint the Levites to be in charge of the tabernacle^(A) of the covenant law^(B)—over all its furnishings^(C) and everything belonging to it. They are to carry the tabernacle and all its furnishings; they are to take care of it and encamp around it.

⁹ But Moses did not give any to the Kohathites,^(A) because they were to carry on their shoulders^(B) the holy things, for which they were responsible.

⁸ At that time the Lord set apart the tribe of Levi^(A) to carry the ark of the covenant^(B) of the Lord, to stand before the Lord to minister^(C) and to pronounce blessings^(D) in his name, as they still do today.^(E)

²⁵ he gave this command to the Levites who carried^(A) the ark of the covenant of the Lord:

¹⁵ The Levites^(A) took down the ark of the Lord, together with the chest containing the gold objects, and placed them on the large rock.^(B) On that day the people of Beth Shemesh^(C) offered burnt offerings and made sacrifices to the Lord.

⁸ Tell the priests^(A) who carry the ark of the covenant: ‘When you reach the edge of the Jordan’s waters, go and stand in the river.’”
