^3 (A)The people thus contended with Moses and spoke, saying, “^(B)If only we had perished ^(C)when our brothers perished before the Lord! ^4 (D)Why then have you brought the Lord’s assembly into this wilderness, for us and our beasts to die ^[a]here?

⁵ The people spoke against God and Moses, “^(A)Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no ^[a]food and no water, and ^[b](B)we loathe this miserable food.”
