²⁶ They came back to Moses and Aaron and the whole Israelite community at Kadesh^(A) in the Desert of Paran.^(B) There they reported to them^(C) and to the whole assembly and showed them the fruit of the land.^(D)

20 In the first month the whole Israelite community arrived at the Desert of Zin,^(A) and they stayed at Kadesh.^(B) There Miriam^(C) died and was buried.

Edom Denies Israel Passage

¹⁴ Moses sent messengers from Kadesh^(A) to the king of Edom,^(B) saying:

The Death of Aaron

²² The whole Israelite community set out from Kadesh^(A) and came to Mount Hor.^(B)

¹⁴ for when the community rebelled at the waters in the Desert of Zin,^(A) both of you disobeyed my command to honor me as holy^(B) before their eyes.” (These were the waters of Meribah^(C) Kadesh, in the Desert of Zin.)

⁸ This is what your fathers did when I sent them from Kadesh Barnea to look over the land.^(A)

¹⁴ Thirty-eight years^(A) passed from the time we left Kadesh Barnea^(B) until we crossed the Zered Valley. By then, that entire generation^(C) of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.^(D)

²³ And when the Lord sent you out from Kadesh Barnea,^(A) he said, “Go up and take possession^(B) of the land I have given you.” But you rebelled^(C) against the command of the Lord your God. You did not trust^(D) him or obey him.
