God’s Judgment of Israel’s Rebellion

¹¹ The Lord said to Moses, “How long will these people despise me? How long will they not trust in me despite all the signs I have performed among them?^(A)

²³ will ever see the land I swore to give their ancestors.^(A) None of those who have despised me^(B) will see it.

²⁹ Why, then, do all of you despise my sacrifices and offerings that I require at the place of worship?^(A) You have honored your sons more than me,^(B) by making yourselves fat with the best part of all of the offerings of my people Israel.’

³⁰ “Therefore, this is the declaration of the Lord, the God of Israel: ‘I did say that your family and your forefather’s family would walk before me forever.^(C) But now,’ this is the Lord’s declaration, ‘no longer! For those who honor me I will honor,^(D) but those who despise me will be disgraced.^(E)

¹⁰ Now therefore, the sword will never leave your house^(A) because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hethite to be your own wife.’

¹⁷ They keep on saying to those who despise me,^(A) ‘The Lord has spoken: You will have peace.’^(B) They have said to everyone who follows the stubbornness of his heart, ‘No harm will come to you.’”
