⁴⁰ as a ^[a]reminder to the sons of Israel that ^(A)no ^[b]layman who is not of the ^[c]descendants of Aaron should come near ^(B)to burn incense before the Lord; so that he will not become like Korah and his company—just as the Lord had spoken to him ^[d]through Moses.

⁷ But you and your sons with you shall ^(A)attend to your priesthood for everything concerning the altar and inside the veil, and you are to perform service. I am giving you the priesthood as ^(B)a ^[a]bestowed service, but ^(C)the ^[b]outsider who comes near shall be put to death.”

^18 (A)They opposed Uzziah the king and said to him, “^(B)It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the Lord, ^(C)but for the priests, the sons of Aaron who are consecrated to burn incense. Get out of the sanctuary, for you have been unfaithful and will have no honor from the Lord God.”
