Numbers 21:2-4

2 Israel made a vow to Yahweh, and they said, “If you will surely give this people into our[a] hand, then we[b] will destroy[c] their cities.” 3 Yahweh heard the voice of Israel; he gave to them the Canaanites, and they destroyed them[d] and their cities. They called the name of the place Hormah.
4 They set out from Mount Hor by the way of the Red Sea[e] to go around the land of Edom; but the people became impatient[f] along the way.

New International Version
2 Then Israel made this vow(A) to the Lord: “If you will deliver these people into our hands, we will totally destroy[a](B) their cities.” 3 The Lord listened to Israel’s plea and gave the Canaanites(C) over to them. They completely destroyed them(D) and their towns; so the place was named Hormah.[b](E)
