Whosoever voweth a vow unto the Lord, or sweareth an oath to bind [a]himself by a bond, he shall not [b]break his promise, but shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.

If a woman also vow a vow unto the Lord, and bind herself by a bond, being in her father’s house, in the time of her youth,

And her father hear her vow and bond, wherewith she hath bound herself, and her father hold his [c]peace concerning her, then all her vows shall stand and every bond, wherewith she hath bound herself, shall stand.

“When a young woman still living in her father’s household makes a vow to the Lord or obligates herself by a pledge and her father hears about her vow or pledge but says nothing to her, then all her vows and every pledge by which she obligated herself will stand.(A) But if her father forbids her(B) when he hears about it, none of her vows or the pledges by which she obligated herself will stand; the Lord will release her because her father has forbidden her.
