7 They fought against the Midianites[a] just as the Lord had commanded Moses, killing every man. 8 They executed the five kings of Midian, including Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba. They also executed Beor’s son Balaam with a sword. 9 After this, the Israelis took captive the Midianite women and children[b] and confiscated as spoils of war all their cattle, livestock, and their goods.

7 They fought against Midian, as the Lord commanded Moses,(A) and killed every man.(B) 8 Among their victims were Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur and Reba(C)—the five kings of Midian.(D) They also killed Balaam son of Beor(E) with the sword.(F) 9 The Israelites captured the Midianite women(G) and children and took all the Midianite herds, flocks and goods as plunder.(H)
