⁸ They killed the kings of Midian along with the rest of their slain: ^(A)Evi and Rekem and ^(B)Zur and Hur and Reba, the five kings of Midian; they also killed ^(C)Balaam the son of Beor with the sword.

^16 (A)Behold, these ^[a]caused the sons of Israel, through the ^[b]counsel of ^(B)Balaam, to ^[c]trespass against the Lord in the matter of Peor, so the plague was among the congregation of the Lord.

²² The sons of Israel also killed ^(A)Balaam the son of Beor, the diviner, with the sword among the rest of their slain.
