11 (A)They gave them (B)Kiriath-arba (Arba being the father of Anak), that is Hebron, (C)in the hill country of Judah, along with the pasture lands round it. 12 But the fields of the city and its villages had been given to Caleb the son of Jephunneh as his possession.

13 And to the descendants of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron, (D)the city of refuge for the manslayer, with its pasture lands, (E)Libnah with its pasture lands, 14 Jattir with its pasture lands, Eshtemoa with its pasture lands, 15 Holon with its pasture lands, Debir with its pasture lands, 16 Ain with its pasture lands, Juttah with its pasture lands, Beth-shemesh with its pasture lands—nine cities out of these two tribes; 17 then out of the tribe of Benjamin, (F)Gibeon with its pasture lands, Geba with its pasture lands, 18 Anathoth with its pasture lands, and Almon with its pasture lands—four cities. 19 The cities of the descendants of Aaron, the priests, were in all thirteen cities with their pasture lands.

20 (G)As to the rest of the Kohathites belonging to the Kohathite clans of the Levites, the cities allotted to them were out of the tribe of Ephraim. 21 To them were given Shechem, (H)the city of refuge for the manslayer, with its pasture lands in the hill country of Ephraim, Gezer with its pasture lands, 22 Kibzaim with its pasture lands, Beth-horon with its pasture lands—four cities; 23 and out of the tribe of Dan, Elteke with its pasture lands, Gibbethon with its pasture lands, 24 Aijalon with its pasture lands, Gath-rimmon with its pasture lands—four cities; 25 and out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Taanach with its pasture lands, and Gath-rimmon with its pasture lands—two cities. 26 The cities of the clans of the rest of the Kohathites were ten in all with their pasture lands.

27 (I)And to the Gershonites, one of the clans of the Levites, were given out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Golan in Bashan with its pasture lands, (J)the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Beeshterah with its pasture lands—two cities; 28 and out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishion with its pasture lands, Daberath with its pasture lands, 29 Jarmuth with its pasture lands, En-gannim with its pasture lands—four cities; 30 and out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with its pasture lands, Abdon with its pasture lands, 31 Helkath with its pasture lands, and Rehob with its pasture lands—four cities; 32 and out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with its pasture lands, (K)the city of refuge for the manslayer, Hammoth-dor with its pasture lands, and Kartan with its pasture lands—three cities. 33 The cities of the several clans of the Gershonites were in all thirteen cities with their pasture lands.

34 (L)And to the rest of the Levites, the Merarite clans, were given out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam with its pasture lands, Kartah with its pasture lands, 35 Dimnah with its pasture lands, Nahalal with its pasture lands—four cities; 36 and out of the tribe of Reuben, (M)Bezer with its pasture lands, Jahaz with its pasture lands, 37 Kedemoth with its pasture lands, and Mephaath with its pasture lands—four cities; 38 and out of the tribe of Gad, (N)Ramoth in Gilead with its pasture lands, the city of refuge for the manslayer, (O)Mahanaim with its pasture lands, 39 (P)Heshbon with its pasture lands, Jazer with its pasture lands—four cities in all. 40 As for the cities of the several Merarite clans, that is, the remainder of the clans of the Levites, those allotted to them were in all twelve cities.

41 (Q)The cities of the Levites in the midst of the possession of the people of Israel were in all forty-eight cities with their pasture lands. 42 These cities each had its pasture lands round it. So it was with all these cities.

20 The rest of the Kohathite clans of the Levites were allotted towns from the tribe of Ephraim:

21 In the hill country of Ephraim they were given Shechem(R) (a city of refuge for one accused of murder) and Gezer,(S) 22 Kibzaim and Beth Horon,(T) together with their pasturelands—four towns.(U)

23 Also from the tribe of Dan they received Eltekeh, Gibbethon,(V) 24 Aijalon(W) and Gath Rimmon,(X) together with their pasturelands—four towns.

25 From half the tribe of Manasseh they received Taanach(Y) and Gath Rimmon, together with their pasturelands—two towns.

26 All these ten towns and their pasturelands were given to the rest of the Kohathite clans.(Z)

27 The Levite clans of the Gershonites were given:

from the half-tribe of Manasseh,

Golan in Bashan(AA) (a city of refuge for one accused of murder(AB)) and Be Eshterah, together with their pasturelands—two towns;

28 from the tribe of Issachar,(AC)

Kishion,(AD) Daberath,(AE) 29 Jarmuth(AF) and En Gannim,(AG) together with their pasturelands—four towns;

30 from the tribe of Asher,(AH)

Mishal,(AI) Abdon,(AJ) 31 Helkath and Rehob,(AK) together with their pasturelands—four towns;

32 from the tribe of Naphtali,

Kedesh(AL) in Galilee (a city of refuge for one accused of murder(AM)), Hammoth Dor and Kartan, together with their pasturelands—three towns.

33 The total number of towns of the Gershonite(AN) clans came to thirteen, together with their pasturelands.

34 The Merarite clans (the rest of the Levites) were given:

from the tribe of Zebulun,(AO)

Jokneam,(AP) Kartah, 35 Dimnah and Nahalal,(AQ) together with their pasturelands—four towns;

36 from the tribe of Reuben,

Bezer,(AR) Jahaz,(AS) 37 Kedemoth and Mephaath,(AT) together with their pasturelands—four towns;

38 from the tribe of Gad,

Ramoth(AU) in Gilead(AV) (a city of refuge for one accused of murder), Mahanaim,(AW) 39 Heshbon and Jazer,(AX) together with their pasturelands—four towns in all.

40 The total number of towns allotted to the Merarite clans, who were the rest of the Levites, came to twelve.(AY)

41 The towns of the Levites in the territory held by the Israelites were forty-eight in all, together with their pasturelands.(AZ) 42 Each of these towns had pasturelands surrounding it; this was true for all these towns.

61 (C)To the rest of the Kohathites were given by lot out of the clan of the tribe, out of the half-tribe, the half of Manasseh, ten cities. 62 To the Gershomites according to their clans were allotted thirteen cities out of the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali and Manasseh in Bashan. 63 (D)To the Merarites according to their clans were allotted twelve cities out of the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun. 64 (E)So the people of Israel gave the Levites the cities with their pasture lands. 65 They gave by lot out of the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin (F)these cities that are mentioned by name.

66 (G)And some of the clans of the sons of Kohath had cities of their territory out of the tribe of Ephraim. 67 They were given the cities of refuge: Shechem with its pasture lands in the hill country of Ephraim, Gezer with its pasture lands, 68 (H)Jokmeam with its pasture lands, Beth-horon with its pasture lands, 69 Aijalon with its pasture lands, Gath-rimmon with its pasture lands, 70 and out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Aner with its pasture lands, and Bileam with its pasture lands, for the rest of the clans of the Kohathites.

71 (I)To the Gershomites were given out of the clan of the half-tribe of Manasseh: Golan in Bashan with its pasture lands and (J)Ashtaroth with its pasture lands; 72 and out of the tribe of Issachar: Kedesh with its pasture lands, Daberath with its pasture lands, 73 Ramoth with its pasture lands, and Anem with its pasture lands; 74 out of the tribe of Asher: Mashal with its pasture lands, Abdon with its pasture lands, 75 Hukok with its pasture lands, and Rehob with its pasture lands; 76 and out of the tribe of Naphtali: Kedesh in Galilee with its pasture lands, Hammon with its pasture lands, and Kiriathaim with its pasture lands. 77 (K)To the rest of the Merarites were allotted out of the tribe of Zebulun: (L)Rimmono with its pasture lands, (M)Tabor with its pasture lands, 78 and (N)beyond the Jordan at Jericho, on the east side of the Jordan, out of the tribe of Reuben: Bezer in the wilderness with its pasture lands, Jahzah with its pasture lands, 79 Kedemoth with its pasture lands, and Mephaath with its pasture lands; 80 and out of the tribe of Gad: (O)Ramoth in Gilead with its pasture lands, (P)Mahanaim with its pasture lands, 81 (Q)Heshbon with its pasture lands, and (R)Jazer with its pasture lands.

63 The descendants of Merari, clan by clan, were allotted twelve towns from the tribes of Reuben, Gad and Zebulun.

64 So the Israelites gave the Levites these towns(G) and their pasturelands. 65 From the tribes of Judah, Simeon and Benjamin they allotted the previously named towns.

66 Some of the Kohathite clans were given as their territory towns from the tribe of Ephraim.

67 In the hill country of Ephraim they were given Shechem (a city of refuge), and Gezer,[d](H) 68 Jokmeam,(I) Beth Horon,(J) 69 Aijalon(K) and Gath Rimmon,(L) together with their pasturelands.

70 And from half the tribe of Manasseh the Israelites gave Aner and Bileam, together with their pasturelands, to the rest of the Kohathite clans.

71 The Gershonites(M) received the following:

From the clan of the half-tribe of Manasseh

they received Golan in Bashan(N) and also Ashtaroth, together with their pasturelands;

72 from the tribe of Issachar

they received Kedesh, Daberath,(O) 73 Ramoth and Anem, together with their pasturelands;

74 from the tribe of Asher

they received Mashal, Abdon,(P) 75 Hukok(Q) and Rehob,(R) together with their pasturelands;

76 and from the tribe of Naphtali

they received Kedesh in Galilee, Hammon(S) and Kiriathaim,(T) together with their pasturelands.

77 The Merarites (the rest of the Levites) received the following:

From the tribe of Zebulun

they received Jokneam, Kartah,[e] Rimmono and Tabor, together with their pasturelands;

78 from the tribe of Reuben across the Jordan east of Jericho

they received Bezer(U) in the wilderness, Jahzah, 79 Kedemoth(V) and Mephaath, together with their pasturelands;

80 and from the tribe of Gad

they received Ramoth in Gilead,(W) Mahanaim,(X) 81 Heshbon and Jazer,(Y) together with their pasturelands.(Z)
