² All the Israelites grumbled^(A) against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them, “If only we had died in Egypt!^(B) Or in this wilderness!^(C)

³⁵ “No one from this evil generation shall see the good land^(A) I swore to give your ancestors, ³⁶ except Caleb^(B) son of Jephunneh. He will see it, and I will give him and his descendants the land he set his feet on, because he followed the Lord wholeheartedly.^(C)”

³⁷ Because of you the Lord became angry^(D) with me also and said, “You shall not enter^(E) it, either. ³⁸ But your assistant, Joshua^(F) son of Nun, will enter it. Encourage^(G) him, because he will lead^(H) Israel to inherit^(I) it.
