²⁷ “How long shall ^(A)this wicked congregation grumble against me? ^(B)I have heard the grumblings of the people of Israel, which they grumble against me.

^29 (A)your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness, and ^(B)of all your number, listed in the census ^(C)from twenty years old and upwards, who have grumbled against me,

³³ And your children ^(A)shall be shepherds in the wilderness for ^(B)forty years and shall ^(C)suffer for your faithlessness, until the last of your dead bodies lies in the wilderness.

⁴¹ But on the next day all the congregation of the people of Israel ^(A)grumbled against Moses and against Aaron, saying, “You have killed the people of the Lord.”

²⁴ And the people ^(A)grumbled against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?”

² And the whole congregation of the people of Israel ^(A)grumbled against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness,

³ But the people thirsted there for water, and ^(A)the people grumbled against Moses and said, “Why did you bring us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our livestock with thirst?”

¹⁸ But the people of Israel did not attack them, because the leaders of the congregation had sworn to them by the Lord, the God of Israel. Then all the congregation murmured against the leaders.
