²⁹ In this wilderness your bodies will fall^(A)—every one of you twenty years old or more^(B) who was counted in the census^(C) and who has grumbled against me. ³⁰ Not one of you will enter the land^(D) I swore with uplifted hand^(E) to make your home, except Caleb son of Jephunneh^(F) and Joshua son of Nun.^(G)

⁹ My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying^(A) divinations. They will not belong to the council of my people or be listed in the records^(B) of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign Lord.^(C)

¹⁵ Also with uplifted hand I swore^(A) to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them into the land I had given them—a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands^(B)— ¹⁶ because they rejected my laws^(C) and did not follow my decrees and desecrated my Sabbaths. For their hearts^(D) were devoted to their idols.^(E)

³ Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said,

And yet his works have been finished since the creation of the world.
