²¹ They^(A) forced a man coming in from the country, who was passing by, to carry Jesus’ cross.^(B) He was Simon, a Cyrenian,^(C) the father of Alexander and Rufus.^(D)

The Way to the Cross

²⁶ As^(A) they led Him away, they seized Simon, a Cyrenian,^(B) who was coming in from the country, and laid the cross^(C) on him to carry behind Jesus.

¹² Therefore Jesus also suffered outside the gate,^(A) so that He might sanctify^[a] the people by His own blood.
