²¹ He will stand before Eleazar who will consult the Lord for him with the decision of the Urim.^(A) He and all the Israelites with him, even the entire community, will go out and come back in at his command.”

⁵ Then they said to him, “Please inquire of God so we will know if we will have a successful journey.”

³⁷ So Saul inquired of God,^(A) “Should I go after the Philistines? Will You hand them over to Israel?” But God did not answer him that day.^(B)

¹⁰ so David inquired of God, “Should I go to war against the Philistines? Will You hand them over to me?”

The Lord replied, “Go, and I will hand them over to you.”
