⁷ but ^[a](A)emptied Himself, taking the form of a ^(B)bond-servant, and ^(C)being made in the likeness of men.

¹⁴ Therefore, since the children share in ^[a](A)flesh and blood, ^(B)He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that ^(C)through death He might render powerless ^(D)him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,

¹⁷ Therefore, He ^[a]had ^(A)to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might ^(B)become a merciful and faithful ^(C)high priest in ^(D)things pertaining to God, to ^(E)make propitiation for the sins of the people.

¹⁵ For we do not have ^(A)a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been ^(B)tempted in all things as we are, yet ^(C)without sin.
