¹⁵Only a simpleton believes everything he’s told! A prudent man understands the need for proof.

¹⁶A wise man is cautious and avoids danger; a fool plunges ahead with great confidence.

¹⁷A short-tempered man is a fool. He hates the man who is patient.

Proverbs 14:15-17

New International Version

¹⁵The simple believe anything,
but the prudent give thought to their steps.^(A)

¹⁶The wise fear the Lord and shun evil,^(B)
but a fool^(C) is hotheaded and yet feels secure.

¹⁷A quick-tempered person^(D) does foolish things,^(E)
and the one who devises evil schemes is hated.^(F)
