Proverbs 14:16-18

¹⁶Wise people are careful and avoid trouble; fools are too confident and careless.

¹⁷A quick-tempered person does stupid things, but it is also true that people don’t like anyone who quietly plans evil.

¹⁸Fools are rewarded with more foolishness. Smart people are rewarded with knowledge.

Proverbs 14:16-18

New International Version

¹⁶The wise fear the Lord and shun evil,^(A)
but a fool^(B) is hotheaded and yet feels secure.

¹⁷A quick-tempered person^(C) does foolish things,^(D)
and the one who devises evil schemes is hated.^(E)

¹⁸The simple inherit folly,
but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
