Proverbs 16:13-15

¹³¶ Righteous lips are the delight of kings, and they love him that speaks that which is right.

¹⁴¶ The wrath of the king is as a messenger of death, but the wise man will avoid it.

¹⁵In the light of the king’s countenance is life, and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.

Proverbs 16:13-15

New International Version

¹³Kings take pleasure in honest lips;
they value the one who speaks what is right.^(A)

¹⁴A king’s wrath is a messenger of death,^(B)
but the wise will appease it.^(C)

¹⁵When a king’s face brightens, it means life;^(D)
his favor is like a rain cloud in spring.^(E)
