Proverbs 21:27-29

The Message

²⁷Religious performance by the wicked stinks;
it’s even worse when they use it to get ahead.

²⁸A lying witness is unconvincing;
a person who speaks truth is respected.

²⁹Unscrupulous people fake it a lot;
honest people are sure of their steps.

²⁷The sacrifice of the wicked is detestable^(A)—
how much more so when brought with evil intent!^(B)

²⁸A false witness^(C) will perish,^(D)
but a careful listener will testify successfully.

²⁹The wicked put up a bold front,
