Proverbs 22:3-5

New Life Version

³A wise man sees sin and hides himself, but the foolish go on, and are punished for it.

⁴The reward for not having pride and having the fear of the Lord is riches, honor and life.

⁵Thorns and traps are in the way of the sinful. He who watches himself will stay far from them.

³The prudent see danger and take refuge,^(A)
but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.^(B)

⁴Humility is the fear of the Lord;
its wages are riches and honor^(C) and life.^(D)

⁵In the paths of the wicked are snares and pitfalls,^(E)
but those who would preserve their life stay far from them.
