²⁰ For lack of wood the fire goes out,
    and where there is no whisperer, quarreling ceases.^(A)

²¹ As charcoal is to hot embers and wood to fire,
    so is a quarrelsome person for kindling strife.^(A)

⁹ and the sinner disrupts friendships
    and sows discord among those who are at peace.^(A)

¹⁰ In proportion to the fuel, so will the fire burn,
    and in proportion to the obstinacy, so will strife increase;^[a]
in proportion to people’s strength will be their anger,
    and in proportion to their wealth they will increase their wrath.
