Proverbs 28:17-19

¹⁷A man that doeth violence to the blood of any person
shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him.

¹⁸Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved:
but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.

¹⁹He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread:
but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.

¹⁷Anyone tormented by the guilt of murder
will seek refuge^(A) in the grave;
let no one hold them back.

¹⁸The one whose walk is blameless is kept safe,^(B)
but the one whose ways are perverse will fall^(C) into the pit.^[a]

¹⁹Those who work their land will have abundant food,
but those who chase fantasies will have their fill of poverty.^(D)
