⁵I will destroy anyone
who secretly slanders his neighbor;^(A)
I cannot tolerate anyone
with haughty eyes or an arrogant heart.^(B)

⁵Whoever slanders their neighbor^(A) in secret,
I will put to silence;
whoever has haughty eyes^(B) and a proud heart,
I will not tolerate.

¹⁶Be in agreement with one another.^(A) Do not be proud;^(B) instead, associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own estimation.^(C)

¹⁶Live in harmony with one another.^(A) Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position.^[a] Do not be conceited.^(B)
