¹⁵ “Be careful not to make a treaty^(A) with those who live in the land; for when they prostitute^(B) themselves to their gods and sacrifice to them, they will invite you and you will eat their sacrifices.^(C)

³⁹ You will have these tassels to look at and so you will remember^(A) all the commands of the Lord, that you may obey them and not prostitute yourselves^(B) by chasing after the lusts of your own hearts^(C) and eyes.

⁴ You adulterous^(A) people,^[a] don’t you know that friendship with the world^(B) means enmity against God?^(C) Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.^(D)
