127 Unless the Lord builds the house,
They labor in vain who build it;
Unless ^(A)the Lord guards the city,
The watchman stays awake in vain.

¹¹ In the day you will make your plant to grow,
And in the morning you will make your seed to flourish;
But the harvest will be a heap of ruins
In the day of grief and desperate sorrow.

^4 (A)Then I said, ‘I have labored in vain,
I have spent my strength for nothing and in vain;
Yet surely my ^[a]just reward is with the Lord,
And my ^[b]work with my God.’ ”

^13 (A)They have sown wheat but reaped thorns;
They have ^[a]put themselves to pain but do not profit.
But be ashamed of your harvest
Because of the fierce anger of the Lord.”
