Psalm 132:11-18

New International Version

¹¹The Lord swore an oath to David,^(A)
    a sure oath he will not revoke:
“One of your own descendants^(B)
    I will place on your throne.
¹²If your sons keep my covenant^(C)
    and the statutes I teach them,
then their sons will sit
    on your throne^(D) for ever and ever.”

¹³For the Lord has chosen Zion,^(E)
    he has desired it for his dwelling,^(F) saying,
¹⁴“This is my resting place for ever and ever;^(G)
    here I will sit enthroned,^(H) for I have desired it.
¹⁵I will bless her with abundant provisions;
    her poor I will satisfy with food.^(I)
¹⁶I will clothe her priests^(J) with salvation,
    and her faithful people will ever sing for joy.^(K)

¹⁷“Here I will make a horn^[a] grow^(L) for David
and set up a lamp^(M) for my anointed one.^(N)
¹⁸I will clothe his enemies with shame,^(O)
but his head will be adorned with a radiant crown.”^(P)

⁷The Lord did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous^(E) than other peoples, for you were the fewest^(F) of all peoples.^(G) ⁸But it was because the Lord loved^(H) you and kept the oath he swore^(I) to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand^(J) and redeemed^(K) you from the land of slavery,^(L) from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. ⁹Know therefore that the Lord your God is God;^(M) he is the faithful God,^(N) keeping his covenant of love^(O) to a thousand generations^(P) of those who love him and keep his commandments.^(Q)

The Covenant of Circumcision

17 When Abram was ninety-nine years old,^(A) the Lord appeared to him^(B) and said, “I am God Almighty^[a];^(C) walk before me faithfully and be blameless.^(D) ²Then I will make my covenant between me and you^(E) and will greatly increase your numbers.”^(F)

³Abram fell facedown,^(G) and God said to him, ⁴“As for me, this is my covenant with you:^(H) You will be the father of many nations.^(I) ⁵No longer will you be called Abram^[b]; your name will be Abraham,^[c]^(J) for I have made you a father of many nations.^(K) ⁶I will make you very fruitful;^(L) I will make nations of you, and kings will come from you.^(M) ⁷I will establish my covenant^(N) as an everlasting covenant^(O) between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God^(P) and the God of your descendants after you.^(Q)
