¹³keep your tongue^(A) from evil
and your lips from telling lies.^(B)

¹³Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.

²⁶Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues^(A) deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.

²⁶If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

⁸but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.^(A)

⁸But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
