²I was ^(A)mute and silent;
I held my peace to no avail,
and my distress grew worse.

²So I remained utterly silent,^(A)
not even saying anything good.
But my anguish^(B) increased;

⁹^(A)I am mute; I do not open my mouth,
^(B)for it is you who have done it.

⁹I was silent;^(A) I would not open my mouth,^(B)
for you are the one who has done this.^(C)
