5 Your sharpened arrows pierce the hearts of the king’s enemies;
the peoples fall under you.^(G)

the scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of justice.^(I)
7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness;^(J)
therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of joy
more than your companions.
⁸ Myrrh, aloes, and cassia perfume all your garments;
from ivory palaces harps bring you joy.^(K)
9 Kings’ daughters are among your honored women;^(L)
the queen, adorned with gold from Ophir,
stands at your right hand.^(M)

¹⁰ Listen, daughter, pay attention and consider:
Forget your people and your father’s house,^(N)
11 and the king will desire your beauty.
Bow down to him, for he is your lord.^(O)
12 The daughter of Tyre, the wealthy people,
will seek your favor with gifts.^(P)

¹³ In her chamber, the royal daughter is all glorious,
her clothing embroidered with gold.^(Q)
14 In colorful garments she is led to the king;
after her, the virgins, her companions, are brought to you.^(R)
15 They are led in with gladness and rejoicing;
they enter the king’s palace.^(S)

¹⁶ Your sons will succeed your ancestors;
you will make them princes throughout the land.^(T)
17 I will cause your name to be remembered for all generations;
therefore the peoples will praise you forever and ever.^(U)

⁶ God has spoken in his sanctuary:^[c]
“I will celebrate!
I will divide up Shechem.^(H)
I will apportion the Valley of Succoth.^(I)
7 Gilead is mine, Manasseh is mine,
and Ephraim is my helmet;^(J)
Judah is my scepter.^(K)
8 Moab is my washbasin.^(L)
I throw my sandal on Edom;^(M)
I shout in triumph over Philistia.”^(N)

⁹ Who will bring me to the fortified city?
Who will lead me to Edom?^(O)
10 God, haven’t you rejected us?
God, you do not march out with our armies.^(P)
11 Give us aid against the foe,
for human help is worthless.^(Q)
12 With God we will perform valiantly;^(R)
he will trample our foes.^(S)

⁴ Lord God of Armies,
how long will you be angry
with your people’s prayers?^(J)
5 You fed them the bread of tears
and gave them a full measure^[a]
of tears to drink.^(K)
6 You put us at odds with our neighbors;
our enemies mock us.^(L)
7 Restore us, God of Armies;
make your face shine on us, so that we may be saved.^(M)

⁸ You dug up a vine from Egypt;
you drove out the nations and planted it.^(N)
9 You cleared a place for it;
it took root and filled the land.^(O)
10 The mountains were covered by its shade,
and the mighty cedars^[b] with its branches.^(P)
11 It sent out sprouts toward the Sea^[c]
and shoots toward the River.^[d](Q)

¹² Why have you broken down its walls
so that all who pass by pick its fruit?^(R)
13 Boars from the forest tear at it
and creatures of the field feed on it.^(S)
14 Return, God of Armies.^(T)
Look down from heaven and see;
take care of this vine,
¹⁵ the root^[e] your right hand planted,
the son^[f] that you made strong for yourself.^(U)
16 It was cut down and burned;
they^[g] perish at the rebuke of your countenance.^(V)
17 Let your hand be with the man at your right hand,
with the son of man
you have made strong for yourself.^(W)
18 Then we will not turn away from you;
revive us, and we will call on your name.^(X)
19 Restore us, Lord, God of Armies;^(Y)
make your face shine on us, so that we may be saved.^(Z)
