O Lord, Deliver My Life

To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments; according to (A)The Sheminith.[a] A Psalm of David.

O Lord, (B)rebuke me not in your anger,
    nor (C)discipline me in your wrath.
Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am languishing;
    (D)heal me, O Lord, (E)for my bones are troubled.
My (F)soul also is greatly troubled.
    But you, O Lord(G)how long?

Turn, O Lord, deliver my life;
    save me for the sake of your steadfast love.
For in (H)death there is no remembrance of you;
    in Sheol who will give you praise?

I am (I)weary with my (J)moaning;
    every night I flood my bed with tears;
    I drench my couch with my weeping.
My (K)eye wastes away because of grief;
    it grows weak because of all my foes.

(L)Depart from me, all you (M)workers of evil,
    for the Lord (N)has heard the sound of my weeping.
The Lord has heard my (O)plea;
    the Lord accepts my prayer.
10 All my enemies shall be ashamed and greatly troubled;
    they shall (P)turn back and be put to shame in a moment.

In You Do I Take Refuge

A (Q)Shiggaion[b] of David, which he sang to the Lord concerning the words of Cush, a Benjaminite.

O Lord my God, in you do I (R)take refuge;
    (S)save me from all my pursuers and deliver me,
lest like (T)a lion they tear my soul apart,
    rending it in pieces, with (U)none to deliver.

O Lord my God, (V)if I have done this,
    if there is (W)wrong in my hands,
if I have repaid (X)my friend[c] with evil
    or (Y)plundered my enemy without cause,
let the enemy pursue my soul and overtake it,
    and let him (Z)trample my life to the ground
    and lay my glory in the dust. Selah

(AA)Arise, O Lord, in your anger;
    (AB)lift yourself up against the fury of my enemies;
    (AC)awake for me; you have appointed a judgment.
Let the assembly of the peoples be gathered about you;
    over it return on high.

The Lord (AD)judges the peoples;
    (AE)judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness
    and according to the integrity that is in me.
Oh, let the evil of the wicked come to an end,
    and may you establish the righteous—
you who (AF)test (AG)the minds and hearts,[d]
    O righteous God!
10 My shield is (AH)with God,
    who saves (AI)the upright in heart.
11 God is (AJ)a righteous judge,
    and a God who feels (AK)indignation every day.

12 If a man[e] does not repent, God[f] will (AL)whet his sword;
    he has (AM)bent and (AN)readied his bow;
13 he has prepared for him his deadly weapons,
    making his (AO)arrows (AP)fiery shafts.
14 Behold, the wicked man (AQ)conceives evil
    and is (AR)pregnant with mischief
    and gives birth to lies.
15 He makes (AS)a pit, digging it out,
    and falls into the hole that he has made.
16 His (AT)mischief returns upon his own head,
    and on his own skull his violence descends.

17 I will give to the Lord the thanks due to his righteousness,
    and I will (AU)sing praise to the name of the Lord, the Most High.

How Majestic Is Your Name

To the choirmaster: according to The (AV)Gittith.[g] A Psalm of David.

O Lord, our Lord,
    how majestic is your (AW)name in all the earth!
You have set your (AX)glory above the heavens.
    (AY)Out of the mouth of babies and infants,
you have established (AZ)strength because of your foes,
    to still (BA)the enemy and the avenger.

When I (BB)look at your heavens, the work of your (BC)fingers,
    the moon and the stars, (BD)which you have set in place,
(BE)what is man that you are (BF)mindful of him,
    and (BG)the son of man that you (BH)care for him?

Yet you have made him a little lower than (BI)the heavenly beings[h]
    and crowned him with (BJ)glory and honor.
You have given him (BK)dominion over the works of your hands;
    (BL)you have put all things under his feet,
all sheep and oxen,
    and also the beasts of the field,
the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea,
    whatever passes along the paths of the seas.

O Lord, our Lord,
    how majestic is your name in all the earth!
