¹⁶ why gaze in envy, you rugged mountain,
    at the mountain where God chooses^(A) to reign,
    where the Lord himself will dwell forever?^(B)
17 The chariots^(C) of God are tens of thousands
    and thousands of thousands;^(D)
    the Lord has come from Sinai into his sanctuary.^[a]
18 When you ascended^(E) on high,^(F)
    you took many captives;^(G)
    you received gifts from people,^(H)
even from^[b] the rebellious^(I)—
    that you,^[c] Lord God, might dwell there.
