²⁸ But rebels and sinners shall be destroyed together,
    and those who forsake the Lord shall be consumed.^(A)

¹³ for my people have committed two evils:
    they have forsaken me,
the fountain of living water,
    and dug out cisterns for themselves,
cracked cisterns
    that can hold no water.^(A)

¹⁷ Have you not brought this upon yourself
    by forsaking the Lord your God,
    while he led you in the way?^(A)

⁸ O hope of Israel,
    its savior in time of trouble,
why should you be like a stranger in the land,
    like a traveler turning aside for the night?^(A)
