55 He also (A)drove out the nations before them
And (B)apportioned them for an inheritance by measurement,
And made the tribes of Israel dwell in their tents.
56 Yet they [a](C)tempted and (D)rebelled against the Most High God
And did not keep His testimonies,
57 But turned back and (E)acted treacherously like their fathers;
They (F)turned aside like a treacherous bow.

56 But they put God to the test
    and rebelled against the Most High;
    they did not keep his statutes.
57 Like their ancestors(C) they were disloyal and faithless,
    as unreliable as a faulty bow.(D)
