⁵⁸ They angered him^(A) with their high places;^(B)
    they aroused his jealousy with their idols.^(C)

¹⁷ But those who trust in idols,
    who say to images, ‘You are our gods,’^(A)
    will be turned back in utter shame.^(B)

⁹ All who make idols^(A) are nothing,
    and the things they treasure are worthless.^(B)
Those who would speak up for them are blind;^(C)
    they are ignorant, to their own shame.^(D)

¹¹ People who do that will be put to shame;^(A)
    such craftsmen are only human beings.
Let them all come together and take their stand;
    they will be brought down to terror and shame.^(B)

¹⁴ Everyone is senseless and without knowledge;
    every goldsmith is shamed^(A) by his idols.
The images he makes are a fraud;^(B)
    they have no breath in them.
