¹⁸For the oppressed will not always be forgotten;
the hope of the afflicted^[a] will not perish forever.^(A)

Psalm 9:18

New International Version

¹⁸But God will never forget the needy;
the hope^(A) of the afflicted^(B) will never perish.

⁴May he vindicate the afflicted among the people,
help the poor,
and crush the oppressor.^(A)

⁴May he defend the afflicted^(A) among the people
and save the children of the needy;^(B)
may he crush the oppressor.^(C)
