³ He is like ^(A)a tree
    planted by ^(B)streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
    and its ^(C)leaf does not wither.
^(D)In all that he does, he prospers.

⁸ But I am like ^(A)a green olive tree
    in the house of God.
I trust in the steadfast love of God
    for ever and ever.

⁷ In his days may ^(A)the righteous flourish,
    and ^(B)peace abound, till the moon be no more!

²⁸ Whoever ^(A)trusts in his riches will fall,
    but the righteous will ^(B)flourish like a green leaf.

⁶ Like palm groves^[a] that stretch afar,
    like gardens beside a river,
^(A)like aloes ^(B)that the Lord has planted,
    like cedar trees beside the waters.

³ to grant to those who mourn in Zion—
    ^(A)to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes,
^(B)the oil of gladness instead of mourning,
    the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit;
^(C)that they may be called oaks of righteousness,
    the planting of the Lord, ^(D)that he may be glorified.^[a]

^5 (A)I will be like the dew to Israel;
    ^(B)he shall blossom like the lily;
    he shall take root like the trees ^(C)of Lebanon;
⁶ his shoots shall spread out;
    his beauty shall be ^(D)like the olive,
    and his fragrance like Lebanon.
⁷ They shall return and ^(E)dwell beneath my^[a] shadow;
    they shall flourish like the corn;
they shall blossom like the vine;
    their fame shall be like the wine of Lebanon.
⁸ O ^(F)Ephraim, what have I to do with idols?
    It is I who answer and look after you.^[b]
I am like an evergreen cypress;
    ^(G)from me comes your fruit.
