⁸ Daughter of Babylon, you ^[a](A)devastated one,
Blessed will be one who ^(B)repays you
With ^[b]the retribution with which you have repaid us.

⁴² They ^(A)seize their bow and javelin;
They are ^(B)cruel and have no mercy.
Their ^(C)voice roars like the sea;
And they ride on ^(D)horses,
^(E)Drawn up like a man for the battle
Against you, daughter of Babylon.

³³ For this is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:
“The daughter of Babylon is like a ^(A)threshing floor
At the time that ^[a]it is tread down;
In just a little while the time of ^(B)harvest will come for her.”
