^4 (E)One thing I have desired of the Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may ^(F)dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life,
To behold the ^[b]beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.
⁵ For ^(G)in the time of trouble
He shall hide me in His pavilion;
In the secret place of His tabernacle
He shall hide me;
He shall ^(H)set me high upon a rock.

⁶ And now ^(I)my head shall be ^[c]lifted up above my enemies all around me;
Therefore I will offer sacrifices of ^[d]joy in His tabernacle;
I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.

⁷ Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice!
Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
⁸ When You said, “Seek My face,”
My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.”
^9 (J)Do not hide Your face from me;
Do not turn Your servant away in anger;
You have been my help;
Do not leave me nor forsake me,
O God of my salvation.
^10 (K)When my father and my mother forsake me,
Then the Lord will take care of me.

^11 (L)Teach me Your way, O Lord,
And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies.
¹² Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries;
For ^(M)false witnesses have risen against me,
And such as breathe out violence.
¹³ I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the Lord
^(N)In the land of the living.

^14 (O)Wait^[e] on the Lord;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!

⁷ The way of the just is uprightness;
^(A)O Most Upright,
You ^[a]weigh the path of the just.
⁸ Yes, ^(B)in the way of Your judgments,
O Lord, we have ^(C)waited for You;
The desire of our soul is for Your name
And for the remembrance of You.
^9 (D)With my soul I have desired You in the night,
Yes, by my spirit within me I will seek You early;
For when Your judgments are in the earth,
The inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

^10 (E)Let grace be shown to the wicked,
Yet he will not learn righteousness;
In ^(F)the land of uprightness he will deal unjustly,
And will not behold the majesty of the Lord.
¹¹ Lord, when Your hand is lifted up, ^(G)they will not see.
But they will see and be ashamed
For ^[b]their envy of people;
Yes, the fire of Your enemies shall devour them.

¹² Lord, You will establish peace for us,
For You have also done all our works ^[c]in us.
¹³ O Lord our God, ^(H)masters besides You
Have had dominion over us;
But by You only we make mention of Your name.
¹⁴ They are dead, they will not live;
They are deceased, they will not rise.
Therefore You have punished and destroyed them,
And made all their memory to ^(I)perish.
¹⁵ You have increased the nation, O Lord,
You have ^(J)increased the nation;
You are glorified;
You have expanded all the ^[d]borders of the land.
