My soul is downcast within me;

Deep calls to deep(J)
    in the roar of your waterfalls;
all your waves and breakers
    have swept over me.(K)

By day the Lord directs his love,(L)
    at night(M) his song(N) is with me—
    a prayer to the God of my life.(O)

I say to God my Rock,(P)
    “Why have you forgotten(Q) me?
Why must I go about mourning,(R)
    oppressed(S) by the enemy?”(T)
10 My bones suffer mortal agony(U)
    as my foes taunt(V) me,
saying to me all day long,
    “Where is your God?”(W)
