Then another sign[a] appeared in heaven: There was a great fiery red dragon having seven heads and 10 horns,(A) and on his heads were seven diadems.[b] His tail swept away a third of the stars in heaven and hurled them to the earth.(B) And the dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she did give birth he might devour her child. But she gave birth to a Son—a male who is going to shepherd[c] all nations with an iron scepter(C)—and her child was caught up to God and to His throne.

Its tail swept a third(F) of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth.(G) The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child(H) the moment he was born. She gave birth to a son, a male child, who “will rule all the nations with an iron scepter.”[a](I) And her child was snatched up(J) to God and to his throne.
